Best Uber Promo Code And Free Ride Credits

How’d you like to get a free Uber promo code that thousands of other riders have used to claim their free trip credit?

Well, consider yourself lucky…

…because today I’m going to reveal the best ways for new and existing Uber riders to earn free credit.

Let’s jump right in.

The best Uber promo code for 2017

Many new startups are using referral programs and free trials to entice users to try their platforms. And leading the charge is Uber, offering new users free ride credit in amounts worth up to $15 when they use the promo code “TRYNOW”.

If you’re looking to try this rideshare service at a discount, then check out their latest promo code. We’ve tested this code as recently as December 2017, so you can be sure that it is currently 100% working.

This coupon code from Uber will give new app users a free trip credit worth up to $15. The amount that is actually applied to your account will depend on which city you sign up in, and they change quite often.

But make no mistake, whether it is $10 or $15, you’ll still be able to get pretty far on this one credit.

Once you apply the free credit to your account, you’ll be able to take a discounted ride in any city that has a coverage area. If you signed up and entered the Uber promotion code in Texas, but saved it for a vacation in Florida, you would still be able to apply that free credit towards your trip in Florida.

Using an Uber Coupon

So you’ve found the most current and lucrative coupon code, now what? Well, now it’s time to apply that promotion to your account.

To claim your promotion, you’ll need to follow a few simple steps:

  1. Download the Uber rider app from Google Play or the App Store
  2. Create a user account and enter all of the necessary account and payment information
  3. Tap the “My Account” button in the top left of the app
  4. Tap the “Promotion” tab and enter the code “3SEO
  5. Request and take your first discounted trip 🙂

Using an Uber promo code is really simple, if you can’t tell. However, there are a few tips you should be aware of that will help you maximize your new rider promotion.

Mistakes to avoid when using the code

Read them ALL, as making common novice mistakes could cost you your free credit!

1. Request a driver after you you apply the promotion

I was guilty of making this mistake when I applied my new Uber user promotion to my account, like so many others have done before me.

In order to have the credit properly applied to your account, you must enter the coupon code BEFORE you request a ride. If you don’t, you will miss out on the promotional credit and your card will be charged.

Unfortunately, there is no way to retroactively apply free ride credit to a rider account, so getting this right the first time is key.

2. Use your credit up all at once

A promo code is good towards a user’s first ride, so anything that doesn’t get used on the first trip disappears.

This is very important to note, and if you want to make the most of this free ride credit, make sure to take a trip long enough to use the entire credit.

But just how far does the applied account credit get you? If you want a better idea of how far you can go, then check out our new Uber calculator below.

Simply enter your beginning and ending destination, then our tool does the hard work, giving you an estimate of what your next ride will cost. Our data comes straight from Uber, so you can be sure it is as accurate as possible. Check it out:

Our ride fare estimator widget has already helped tens of thousands of new users estimate how far their Uber coupon will get them, and we’ve adjusted the widget based on their feedback.

3. Best time to use the Uber promo code

There are tons of ideal times to use the coupon credit code, but one isn’t necessarily better than the rest.

If you’re looking for the best time to use your promo code, simply make sure the trip meets two criteria:

1) the trip amount is equal to, or greater than, the credit amount, and 2) the trip can help you out in some type of way.

Whether this is convenience or saving money, a free ride credit can do a lot for you.

Some great times to use the credit would be if your car broke down and you needed money to put towards the repair, if you’re on a work trip and don’t want yet another expense to get reimbursed for, or if you had a little too much fun at the bar and forgot about transportation.

At any rate, the free Uber ride is available to you once you apply the code.

4. Try an alternative to Uber

While not a specific Uber-related tip, another way that users are getting discounts is by downloading Lyft. The Lyft app operates a similar business model, and many loyal Uber users are using both apps.

While you’re in the process of downloading Uber and entering the promotional code, why not take a few extra minutes and get another free ride?

We’ve gained access to a Lyft promo code that provides existing users with new user credit, worth up to $50.

What we love about Lyft is that unlike Uber, the free ride credit rolls over into more than the first trip. The credit is good till it runs out, so if it take five rides to use it all, then so be it.

This is just one of the many promotions Lyft is currently running, so if you’re interested, then check out the rest here.

Uber Codes For Existing Users

So you have downloaded this rideshare app, applied your promo code, and taken a free ride. Do you have to start paying full price for rides now?

This is hands down one of the most frequently asked questions on we get from users on our blog.

After you’ve downloaded the app, claimed your free credit, then taken your first free and/or discounted ride, you are now considered an existing Uber user.

Once you’ve reached the existing user status, there are no more publicly-facing promo codes that can be claimed for free rides. However, there ARE still ways for you to earn credit.

I have literally earned thousands upon thousands of dollars in free Uber ride credit by using these methods, so definitely try them all.

Some of these methods are easy to do, and some more complicated, so you’ll have to read about them all then decide which one you are going to choose from there. In the end, however, the work you will do is totally worth the free rides you will earn!

Why Uber Runs Promotions

After reading about the promo codes Uber is currently offering new users, you’re probably wondering why they give away millions of dollars in free ride credit every year. I wondered the same thing, till I did a bit of thinking.

The company offers killer promotions to new riders and drivers as a way to attract and retain them to the platform. New riders will try out the platform if they don’t have to pay anything for their first ride, and drivers will sign up to drive for Uber to claim some of the crazy high sign-on bonuses the company is offering.

And it works, stupidly well.

Here’s the thing: Uber has hundreds of thousands of drivers worldwide, many of which drive for both Uber and Lyft at the same time.

Think about things like cross-promotion between platforms, drivers telling friends about Uber, and stories the drivers share on their Facebook feeds and in person. Simply reward drivers with $5 every time a new rider signs up, and boom, Uber has an insanely powerful guerilla marketing campaign working 24/7 for insanely cheap.

With a powerful marketing tool at its fingertips, there’s no question why they offer so many Uber credit codes for new users and drivers.

New to Uber?

If you are a new user, you should know how the app works before you take a ride. If you already claimed you Uber promotional credit, then let us answer the question, “What is Uber?” before you actually go take a ride.

Uber is a smartphone app that instantly connects riders with drivers. Thousands of people every day rely on this app to get around. The app is easy to use and very reliable, making the entire experience one you will come back to time and time again!

Uber is much more than a transportation app, however.

The company offers Uber car service in many different forms, for everyone all across the spectrum.

The most notable are:

UberX – The most affordable type of Uber car service, these cars are normal cars that are economically-viable and fuel-efficient. Examples include Toyota Prius, Chevy Impala, Honda Civic

UberXL – UberXL vehicles are similar to UberX cars, but bigger. These cost a little more, but transport up to 6 passengers. Examples include Chevy Suburban, Lincoln Navigator

UberPLUS – UberPLUS cars are still affordable, but a step up from UberX vehicles. These cars include BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Classes, and Audi A4’s, among others

UberBLACK – UberBLACK is where things really step up in price and quality alike. One of the first types of Uber vehicles the company offered, this type has become very popular among celebrities and politicians. Examples include BMW 5 & 7 Series, Mercedes S/G/GL/GLA.GLC-Class, and more

UberLUX – UberLUX is the top of the line when it comes to Uber car types. These are the most expensive, but also most luxurious vehicles in the entire lineup. Examples include Lexus LS, Land Rover and Range Rover, Porche Panamera, Tesla – Model S, and other high end vehicles

UberTaxi – While many critics argue that Uber is killing the taxi industry, that is not entirely true. The actually have an option where Uber users can request a normal yellow taxi and book a trip through the app.

These are common city taxies, and are a great way to support cab drivers, if you haven’t yet been drawn away by Uber’s ridiculously low pricing

Noteable Features of the Uber App

There are quite a few things that set Uber apart from a taxi, but most of these features have to do with convenience and ease of use. The main features that make Uber stand out include:

GPS Integration

Uber uses your phone’s GPS to detect your location and connects you with the nearest available driver. Get picked up anywhere – even if you don’t know the exact address.

Reliable Pickups

Once you are paired with a driver, you can track their location and progress on the provided map.

The app will automatically send a text when the driver arrives, which means you don’t have to constantly watch your phone. The app also provides details about the driver and their vehicle, ensuring you know exactly which car to get into.

Clear Pricing

Uber does a great job of giving straightforward and transparent price quotes, which means you won’t be paying hidden fees like some cabs charge. You can view pricing within the app, and even get a price quote for your tip so you know exactly how much you are going to pay.

Feedback – Rating System

To ensure that riders are getting the best experience possible, the company built a rating system into the app. This allows you to rate the driver on how they did, and keeps them accountable. If you liked your ride, make sure to give them five stars!

Where does Uber operate?

This platform operates in most of the largest cities in the United States. Not only that, but they also operate in many other countries around the globe.

The most popular cities with coverage include New York, Boston, Los Angles, Tampa, Austin, Dallas, San Francisco, and Raleigh-Durham.

Uber New York

With so many people packed into New York, it makes sense that Uber would be a very popular option, as many residents don’t have cars and access to reliable transportation of their own.

Cabs can be expensive, and add up very quickly. So you can see why it is a great option for NYC residents looking for transportation. But residents aren’t the only ones looking to Uber for rides.

According to nycgo.com, New York City saw over 54 million visitors pass through last year, meaning most of them probably are either renting a car or taking public transportation and cabs.

The Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Ellis Island, Rockefeller Center, and other attractions are spread out, and getting from one to the other is not an easy walk. Uber is a great option.

Uber Boston

Many residents of Boston heavily rely on Uber to shuttle them to and from their destinations. Boston Uber users include college students, moms, and business people going to and from work.

With multiple colleges including Boston College, Northeastern University, Boston University, Harvard, and MIT, Uber drivers in Boston get significant ride volume especially on the nights and weekends.

Uber San Francisco

San Francisco is the tech mecca of the modern world, and is where ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft claim to be home. They were born there, so inevitably they will have a cult following throughout the city.

Because of this following, Uber often times offers special deals to San Francisco residents, and partners with a lot of local businesses and event to ferry passengers around town, to and from venues.

Uber Los Angeles

Los Angeles is also one of the nation’s most popular cities for Uber. While cabs and other transportation companies price gouge tech workers, Uber provides a cheaper and more convenient ride alternative.

While LA offers bus, rail, and taxi transportation, many tech workers and business people choose Uber to get around because it is tailored specifically to their needs, not catering to the masses.

What can I use Uber for?

Uber can be used any time you need a reliable ride, and is not limited to one specific use.

If you’re looking for a great time to claim your Uber promotional code, however, we’ve outlined a few great uses:

  • Sober ride home
  • Car broke down
  • Vacations
  • Visiting another city or country
  • You live in a large city

I personally use Uber any time I don’t feel like driving, or am going out for a night on the town. It simply isn’t worth risking your license, or hurting others, by drinking and driving.

Plus, if you use Uber’s passenger referral program to get free ride credit, you’ll be riding around town with a pocket full of free ride credit. There really isn’t much better than that.

At first, I started using Uber just when I went out, then I found out that it can be used for so much more.

After using the app for a few months, I realized just how dang easy it was to actually use. Credit cards are stored on file, and rides are literally at the touch of your fingertips.

I found a few advantages, and a few disadvantages, but overall the app is pretty rock-solid and the team is always improving it.

Advantages of the Uber app

  • Surplus of drivers – Uber has done a great job incentivizing drivers with sign-on bonuses and well-produced marketing materials. There is a huge supply of drivers, meaning you probably won’t have to wait very long for a ride
  • Cheap ride fares – Uber is 20% cheaper than a taxi on average. You can typically get pretty much anywhere in town for less than twenty bucks
  • Completely automated – Once you request a ride, there is nothing more for you to do until the ride is over. Since everything is done through the app, you won’t have to worry about tracking miles or fussing with cash

Disadvantages of the Uber app

  • SURGE Pricing  – When the rider demand far outweighs the supply of drivers, Uber implements what is calls “SURGE Pricing”. SURGE means that rates go up in proportion to the amount of riders requesting rides, meaning your fare could double, triple, or increase even more than that. It is GREAT for drivers, but it really sucks for riders that don’t want to break their bank

While there are some disadvantages to using Uber, the pros far outweigh the cons, making it an incredibly intuitive and easy-to-use tool that I rely on weekly, if not daily sometimes.
